About the game
THE HOBBY: CARD CAREER is a premium, single-player football card collecting and trading simulation for iPhone.
You buy packs and boxes, open them by hand, decide what to keep and what to sell, and build a collection across many simulated seasons. The players, clubs, competitions, card products, market and currency are all fictional and exist only inside the game.
- Paid once through the App Store
- No advertising
- No in-app purchases
- No subscription
- No account or login
- Designed to be played offline
Saves and careers
The game does not use accounts, and there is no cloud save service.
- Your careers are stored locally on your iPhone.
- No sign-in is required, and nothing is uploaded.
- Because saves are local, uninstalling the app, resetting the device or losing the device can remove a career permanently.
- If the game offers an export or backup option, keep your exported file somewhere safe. That is the only way to preserve a career independently of the device.
Otto House Productions cannot see, retrieve or restore your careers, because they never leave your device. There is no automatic cloud recovery. Please treat a long career the same way you would treat any other important file on your phone.
If a career will not load
Please try these steps in order.
- Fully close and reopen the app. Swipe it away from the iOS app switcher, then launch it again. This resolves most temporary problems.
- Restart your iPhone and try again.
- Use the game's own recovery or import tools if the app offers them when a career cannot be opened.
- Do not delete or reinstall the app before you have preserved or exported the career, where the game allows it. Reinstalling can remove local save data.
- Get in touch. Use Report a Problem inside the game's Help & Feedback settings, or email hello@thehobbygame.com.
Please do not email save files unless support has specifically asked you for one.
Performance on long careers
A career that has run for many seasons contains a great deal more simulated history than a new one: more players, more completed seasons, more recorded sales and a much larger collection.
- Advancing a week, and opening a very long career, will take noticeably longer than it does early on. This is expected.
- If an operation appears to be stuck, please give it time before force-closing the app. On a mature career, some steps genuinely take several seconds.
- Closing other apps can help if your device is short of memory.
- If an operation never completes at all, or the app closes by itself, please report it using the details below.
Playing offline
The game is designed to work without an internet connection, and you can play a complete session in airplane mode.
Version 1.0 includes optional anonymous usage and performance analytics, which runs quietly in the background and is never required for gameplay. If it cannot connect, the game is unaffected. You can turn it off in the game's settings, and doing so does not change how the game plays. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Purchases
- THE HOBBY: CARD CAREER is bought once through the App Store. The purchase price is the entire cost.
- There are no in-app purchases.
- There is no subscription.
- There is no advertising.
Every pack purchase, card sale, price, offer and balance inside the game uses fictional in-game currency. Nothing in the game can be bought with real money, exchanged for real money, or withdrawn. The cards are fictional game items and are not real trading cards. Nothing in the game has real-world financial value.
Refunds
App Store purchases, and any refunds, are handled entirely by Apple. Otto House Productions cannot issue App Store refunds directly and has no access to your payment details.
If you would like to request a refund, you can do so through Apple's own purchase and billing support, using the receipt Apple emailed you or the purchase history in your Apple account settings.
Privacy
The game does not use accounts and stores your careers on your own device. Version 1.0 includes optional anonymous usage and performance analytics, which you can turn off.
The full explanation of what is and is not collected is on the privacy policy page.
Reporting a problem
The quickest route is Settings → Help & Feedback → Report a Problem. The in-game form sends your description directly to Otto House Productions without opening Mail or a browser. You can also email hello@thehobbygame.com.
An in-game report automatically includes only the app version/build, save-format version and, when a career is loaded, its current season and week. It does not automatically send your save, collection, logs, device identifier, screenshot or other diagnostics.
If support needs a copy of a specific career, use Export Career for Support as a separate explicit action. Career files are never attached or uploaded automatically.
If you contact support by email instead, include as much of the following as you can:
- The app version (shown in the game's settings, or in the App Store listing)
- Your iPhone model
- Your iOS version
- The career season and week, if the problem relates to a specific career
- A clear description of what happened, and what you expected instead
- The steps that reproduce it, if you know them
- A screenshot, if the problem is something visible
Support will never ask you for a password, your Apple ID credentials, or any payment card information. Please do not include any of these in an email, and treat any message that requests them as fraudulent.
